I totally agree with the fact that English has had a positive impact on other languages rather that a negative one. It has helped to enrich the way we communicate, since it has provided a new range of words and idioms that other language can use if they don't have a defined way to express centain feelings or ideas. If there is a perfect word in English, why no use it? The English language has also contributed to create a more globalised world, since now we have common words with other languages and that has made communication around the world much easier. I definitely don't agree with people that say English is deteriorating other languages, because the don't see that having a language that we can all speak, is actually much better for us, and it is helping to unite the world.
If you ask me, I would say it is positive, maybe not for the language but for us humans to communicate with each other. The more similar the languages that we talk are, the easier we can communicate with each other.
Any case, a language is part of its society and that means that it evolves in the same way society does. Languages have been evolving through history to what we talk nowadays, with the difference that in the past, the exchange of culture between societies was really difficult. For the last decades, our societies have been evolving, exchanging knowledge and fusing together, and at the same time, languages are doing the same and we are using more and more foreign words in our languages.
This is a natural process that has been functioning through history and that cannot be stopped. It doesn't really matter if it is positive or negative, we cannot do anything to change the way this goes.
It has no sense to think about destroying a language by using it. A language is like an organisim, it grows, it nutriates and it evolves. The main objective of every language is to grow in order to be able to communicate with the most people posible. Then it'll start to nutriate from other languages and different cultures, so new phrases and expressions will start to appear. Finally, it'll evolve. Dialects will come to life and others will disappear, even the main language is going to change, but it won't destroy the language, instead, it'll make it stronger, and after all, people may argue that non-native speakers will destroy the language that came to be how what it is by changing.

I'd say that it really depends on who you ask. Let me explain myself: English has had a great influence in other languages in the way that young people can now use expressions that don't actually have a translation in their native languages (although it's true that the words used are usually just buzzwords). On the other hand, if you ask an old person, they'll probably tell you that English mixing up with their language isn't doing any good to anyone, in fact, they'll probably contend that it's making their native language dissapear, and that we need to keep an eye on that. So, I'm actually in two minds about this.
I totally see eye to eye with the ones stating that English has had a positive effect on other languages. I personally believe that non-native English speakers, must get, once and for all, our heads around the fact that English has become the international language worldwide and everyone around the globe are supposed to be able to use it. Since we live nowadays in a global and dynamic society, where it is almost impossible to be isolated from other cultures and countries, it seems extremely difficult not to get influenced by English in a way.
However, if I had to point out any disadvantage about this, it would probably be how threatening English can end up to be for a language, and what's more, for certain dialects. As we all may think, English does not stand a chance of damaging those languages with a strong background, spoken by several millions of people and used in day-to-day life in their own countries. But, how about some less common languages coexisting with English in one same country (Gaelic, for instance)? It seems blatantly obvious that it is much harder to keep these kind of dialects up, since new generations will opt for English as their normal way of communicating, and will definitely put their own dialect aside.
So I am kind of hesitant about this matter.
As far as I am concerned, this issue has some nuances. It is therefore appropiate to clarify the two competing positions.
The globalisation and the explosion of Internet usage meant the exportation of many english words into foreign language even spanish, the second most commonly spokenen language in the world. This effect makes easier the comunication providing vocabulary to suit our needs. However, there are unnecessary anglicisms that have invaded local languages, some of them are likely to decline and dissapear. The question is, why do we use this anglicisms if there are similar words in our native language?
If we have an idiom is to use it. It doesn't make any sense to say that you'll destroy It, you are probably going to change it. But even if you change a little that idiom you are going to talk in an idiom that a lot of people talk. So you are going to use it to comunicate with people around the world, which is why the idioms where created, for people to speak with each other. I think that if a lot of people talk in the same idiom, It would be great for the world to have a better comunication.
I m in two minds about this
I agree up to a point that is better to have an international
lenguage that everyone knows and can comunícate with each
other, this is much easier than that everyone has his own native
lenguage and that cant comunícate with other people
from other countries that speak a different lenguage. But on the
other hand an international lenguage destroys non very important
lenguage and this can be something against it.
I'm not totally sure about that, possibly some words in english are very good to express a situation or describe something, maybe these words are more easy to say, but it would be better if we can perfectly speak in our mothertongue. We can't forgive our own vocabulary. For example my mothertongue, spanish, is more expresive than english but some words in english are perfect to describe things, like the word selfie. In conclusion is good to know words in english to improve our vocabulary but we must know how to say these words in our mothertongue, we can't replace our vocabulary for the english one.
I`m actually in two minds about this statement. On the one hand, integrating English idioms in other languages could help them to have more accurate expressions. Sometimes it is difficult to find words to decribe some things in certain languages so it is very useful to have another language that helps us expressing ourselves. Besides, maybe it is a pity that using these English idioms the whole time could cause the disappearance of other words that we already have in our own language.

Nowdays everyone uses mobile phone on PC to interact with Internet, so we are in constantly contact with other cultures. The effect of this is that languages get mixed. For example, as Nacho said, the word selfie. Five years ago this word didn´t exist in S`panish, but now anyone knows it, and uses it.Also,
Nacho has a great point, when he talks about some crucial words that we don´t have in Spanish. But i think we should use more English words in our language in order to get accostumed to talk with other people all around the world, and eventually everyone will be acquainted with English.
That makes more people able to speak English and chat with anyone of any country.
The negative part of this is the fact that we will lose our vocabulary, and Spanish it´s a vast language full of rare and good words. But that is the cost we have to pay to understand people around the whole world LMAO
Well, that's easy to say. I totally agree that english has a positive effect on the other languages because it helps to enriching it, introducing more words or expressions that can be used in the same way that the native language. There'r some people that they doesnt like the idea of using this world because they think that has a negative effect on them because in this way we'r starting to lose our native expression or vocabulary.
However, I think that if we use some english expression or vocabulary it will make better our enlgish, also it will be easier to stady it and finally this is the best way to make people be able to speak English with anyone of any country.
Personally i agree up to a point that we normally borrow English words such as selfie, using them quite often and making them trendy. We all know Englihs is a global language but we shouldn't stop using our own language as each of one has it's especial uniqueness.
I agree with the fact that English has more positive things than negative. Nowadays most people use English as a way of communication with people from other countries.
Also, there are some English words , like 'creepy', that in your country dont exist, but they express exactly what you want to say, so I think that using them its very helpful and useful to make our expression better.
The only bad thing that I can see about it, is that maybe in the future we start using more and more English vocabulary instead of ours and because of that our vocabulary could disappear.

I agree up to a point that English has been a positive impact on society by faciliting communication between different countries,becoming a lenguage required in most of them,and in almost all areas of work, opening our door to a new way of information,knowledge,and relationships like understanding new words,espressions and customs of the English speaking,but on the other hand the English language in certain sense may be losing form and vocabulary by the use of non-native speakers.
As we live in a globalization world, we must use a global language, in our case it is English. So we mustn’t judge it because it is necessary for our development as humans. It empowers us with such an important skill which is the perfect communication between different cultures, and it also improves our daily vocabulary with words such as ´´selfie´´.
Even though we should protect our language we should listen instead of isolating ourselves and taking into account that the more cultures and languages we learn the better will be for our societies.
