1. After watching The Patriot, please read carefully the following sections - look for them and read only these sections.

-          Salutary neglect

-          Grenville and the Sugar Act

-          The Currency and Quartering Acts

-          The Stamp Act

-          Taxation without representation


-          The First Continental Congress

-          Common Sense

-          Jefferson and the Declaration of Independence

-          Signing of the Declaration

2. Following the model we’ll show you in class, please come up with a PERSONAL timeline. DO NOT COPY FROM THE WEBSITE. USE YOUR OWN WORDS. It should take no more than one side of a sheet of paper.

3     Last but certainly not least, you are supposed to take some things into account:

1.      Your PowerPoint slideshows must start with an outline.  
2.      Excessive content is not allowed on the slides – just important info., pics., etc.
3.      Reading is not allowed – we’ll be looking for eye contact and interaction with the rest of the class.  
4.      It should take no more than 10 mins., but no less than 5.
5.      If you decide to include audio or video, it must be relevant and it has to do with your point.
6.      Check possible spelling mistakes on slides – they’re quite embarrassing!
7.      Try to have fun and amuse people listening to you.

After the screening of The King’s Speech, go over King George VI’s profile on biography.com – there are some videos in this site too that you may find interesting.

Keeping the movie and your reading in mind, you are expected to hand in an assignment on King George VI. You should use your own words as much as possible and it should take no more than a piece of paper – both sides.

We aren’t looking for bios with headings and we won’t read them/ grade them. By that, we mean we don’t want something similar to the one posted on this site. Instead of using a title like “Early Life” and then writing all the info below, please structure your thoughts into clearly defined paragraphs to make your assignment visually attractive and use transitional sentences and discourse makers. For example, you could start saying something like As far as George VI’s childhood is concerned …

Assignments must be submitted, preferably typed, after Easter.
